THE JET SET to represent Poland in Helsinki!
After narrowly missing out the Eurovision Song Contest in both 2005 and 2006, Poland sets its hopes now on the group THE JET SET with the song Time To Party. After a close race, the Polish final Piosenka dla Europy which was held in the TVP studios in Warsaw was won by the popular group who managed to get the most televotes.
THE JET SET has become hugely successful in Poland during the last year due to the song How Many People which ended up third in the Polish final of 2006. Their album Just Call Me became a bestseller and gave the group the opportunity to participate in the prestigious Sopot festival alongside former Eurovision participants BRAINSTORM, VANILLA NINJA and Helena PAPARIZOU.
Another popular Eurovision Song Contest star, Edyta GORNIAK, who came 2nd at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994, opened the Polish show with her song To Nie Ja! while the group WILKI performed the interval act.
Poland will take part in the Eurovision Song Contest Semi-Final on 10th May in Helsinki, Finland. •
Temat: Assemblage 23 upcoming compilation CD
Work is set to begin shortly on the Assemblage 23's fifth album. Most of 2005 was spent either touring or working on Nerve Filter, so only some basic song ideas have been sketched out so far. "It is a bit premature to predict release dates at this point", Tom Shear comments.
To tide fans over until the new album, however, a new Assemblage 23 song, entitled "Decades", will be released in February as part of Accession Records' tenth anniversary compilation. "The new song, which was recorded this past summer, hints at the direction A23 will be headed with the new album, but only slightly", according to Tom.
There will only be a handful of live shows from Assemblage 23 this year, as time needs to be focused in the studio for the new album. It is too early to announce those dates at this time, but these will be shows outside of the U.S. and Europe.
Last but not least, "Return", the follow-up to Bruderschaft's successful debut single, will be released in 2006 on Alfa Matrix records. The project is an ever-evolving collaboration between several artists, with all profits from sales being donated to charity. Tom Shear of Assemblage 23 contributes vocals this time around.

Temat: Theatre of Tragedy out in February
As a first taster for everyone the title track "Storm" will be released as a single on the 24th February through AFM Records/Soulfood Distribution.
Next to the song itself and a club-remix of it, the single will contain another track from the new album ("Begin And End") as well as an exclusive song only on this single called "Beauty in Deconstruction".
There will most likely also be a video made in the near future for "Storm".

MANOWAR has started to give away parts of the CD cover for the upcoming new album GODS OF WAR, which is set to be released on February 23, 2007 in Germany ( February 26 for the rest of Europe and April 3 for the USA/Canada ).
Next to this first taste of what the album cover will look like, the band also gives away a bit more info about the CD - concept, including 2 more song-titles. GODS OF WAR is MANOWAR’s first entry in a cycle of concept albums; each a tribute to a different war god. Opening with the epic piece “Overture To The Hymn Of The Immortal Warriors”, the tone is set for an album beyond anything MANOWAR has done before. This album honors Odin - almighty father of the Norse gods - and details the history and exploits of this storied character. His power and wisdom were unmatched among the gods and he is paid tribute with human sacrifice on the battlefield, as heard in the song “The Sons Of Odin”, the stomping title track “Gods Of War” and the storytelling “The Blood Of Odin”.
Besides the normal Jewel Case version, GODS OF WAR will also be released as a limited edition in an embossed metal slipcase containing a high grade mediabook bound in leather. Furthermore, this limited edition will feature a bonus DVD with unreleased material about the making of this album and some special behind-the-scenes footage.
A double-vinyl LP in a gatefold sleeve will also be available.

The BBC will be recording a live performance of "Gothic People" for a programme called ‘The Story of Common People’ which will be aired by the BBC in November. It’s an hour long programme looking at what the song means to Pulp and the impact it had on their career and on the people of Britain.The band will also be interviewed about their own slant on the song. Libitina will be making their contribution to the programme at The Devonshire Arms in Camden Town, London, on Thursday 29th September. It’ll include a guest return appearance on stage of Pete, the band's old singer. In the meantime, Libitina's new album, as yet untitled, will be released in February/March 2006. The band has booked into Cryonica Studios from November onwards, with Reza Udhin from Inertia again co-producing the CD. They will also be filming a video to accompany the album.

27th February 2006 sees Durutti Column release their brand new album, "Keep Breathing". Written and played almost entirely by Vini Rielly, the album is built out of ideas generated over the last year and was inspired by African hip hop, traditional Jewish music ( Kletzer ) and the 1930’s piano music of Art Tatum. The 12 tracks were created over 3 months in a room ‘not much bigger than a broom cupboard’ using only one microphone and whatever time and equipment Reilly and the album's programmer Ben Roberts had spare. This inventiveness adds to the richness of Reilly’s amazing ‘honey wrapped in sandpaper’ guitar playing. The gorgeous song "Maggie" samples a school choir he heard on the BBC 14 years ago, while other tracks such as the defiant 7 minute long love song, "Let Me Tell You Something" are just as powerful and reflective, showing the positive frame of mind Vini was in when making the record.

BLABBERMOUTH.NET can be the first to report that JUDAS PRIEST have set "Angel of Retribution" as the title of their brand-new album, due on February 1, 2005 (January 31, 2005 internationally) via Sony/Epic Records. Songs slated to appear on the CD include "Judas Rising", "Deal with the Devil", "Revolution", "Worth Fighting For" and "Hellrider". The first single from the album is expected to be "Revolution", although this could change between now and the song's projected radio impact date.
According to a BLABBERMOUTH.NET source who has heard the aforementioned tracks, "This album is unmistakably JUDAS PRIEST...no other band sounds quite like them. The songs we've heard pay tribute to classic PRIEST albums of years gone by, yet have a fully modern sound as well. This is pure metal and it sounds huge."

SOULFLY Begin Recording New Album - Dec. 4, 2004
SOULFLY began tracking their new album Thursday (Dec. 2) in Arizona with mainman Max Cavalera assuming the production duties once again. The recording sessions will last until the end of the year and possibly beyond. A late spring/early summer release through Roadrunner Records is expected.
SOULFLY will release their first DVD, "The Song Remains Insane", on February 15 via Roadrunner. The band will resume touring in support of their fourth full-length album, "Prophecy", in early February when they go back out on the road on a North American co-headlining tour with MORBID ANGEL.

According to a posting on the Danish web site Gaffa.dk, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE will perform at this year's Roskilde Festival, set to take place July 5-8 in Roskilde, Denmark.In other news, Gaffa.dk reports that QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's new album, "Era Vulgaris", will feature guest appearances by Trent Reznor (NINE INCH NAILS), Mark Lanegan and Julian Casablancas (THE STROKES). It should be noted, however, that this information has not yet been officially confirmed by the band or its management.
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE announced the new album title in a post at the band's MySpace page on Wednesday (February 14), along with song titles like "Into The Hollow", "Sick, Sick, Sick", "Misfit Love" and "Battery Acid". But in typically mysterious QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE style, the post added, "Could be song titles. Or could not...go sign up on the mailing list for future insider info. Then get off the Internet and go get laid, it's Valentine's Day."

Metropolitan police officers breathed a sigh of relief last night after George Michael said he would resist the temptation to lampoon them after his recent arrest.
Michael, 42, was found slumped over the wheel of his car in central London in the early hours of Sunday and arrested on suspicion of possessing class C drugs. He was bailed to return to a police station next month. Yesterday he said the incident was "my own stupid fault, as usual". After being arrested for lewd conduct in a public toilet in Los Angeles eight years ago, he penned the song Outside. In the video for the single, he dressed up as an LAPD officer to poke fun at his arrest.
In a statement yesterday, the singer said: "I promise I won't make a record out of this one - even though it is tempting." He also said he was under no illusions about what to expect from the press. "I have been through enough in 24 years of dealing with the media to know what I am in for from them this week," he said.
"Much of it will be inaccurate or simply untrue. I can handle that - it is my own stupid fault, as usual. I was in possession of class C drugs, which is an offence, and I have no complaints about the police, who were professional throughout." He said he had been examined by a doctor, who had pronounced him fit to drive home.

Only two months after the release of The Silent Force, Dutc band Within Temptation's new album has already achieved gold status in Germany, Holland and Belgium. The band just went through an interesting but very long video shoot for the new single "Memories." The filming set was an old manor house near Berlin. Sharon had to perform in different rooms for almost 24 hours. The release date for "Memories" in Germany, Austria and Switzerland will be at end of January. The five-track single version for Germany will feature an unreleased song demo version as well as orchestral versions of some album songs and live versions from the legendary show at the Bataclan club in Paris in November. Immediately after the single release date, Within Temptation will embark on their European tour, starting in Hamburg February 1.

The pop legend admitted the offence at a secret early-morning meeting with cops.
Police agreed he could go to Londons Belgravia station at 7am instead of West End Central where he was quizzed after his arrest on February 26 to avoid publicity.
Later when The Sun asked George for his reaction to the caution he just chuckled.
But the punishment could spell trouble for his career in the USA where officials can refuse visas for drug arrests and convictions. The singer was originally arrested for two drug offences when he was found slumped over the wheel of his Range Rover at Hyde Park Corner.
But the second drug, initially thought to be liquid ecstasy, turned out to be legal poppers.
George previously said he smoked dope to ease depression and inspire his song-writing.

I'm not too worried about the visa thing...if that was the case hardly any pop stars would EVER be allowed into the States, most of the big names have had possesion charges in the past, and they still get to do multi-million dollar grossing tours...hmmm, wonder if there's a link there??

The band recently played a warm up show for the recording sessions at Zappa Club in Tel Aviv, where they premiered the new song Once, as well as two other previously performed songs that will appear on the new album, Epidemic and Miss U.

Funny (well, not really 'funny' - just an expression) you should bring up those VERY lyrics as these, in my opinion, were the saddest George EVER concocted. I always feel a strong long shiver down my spine, each time I hear him sing these...

Countdown to the new Silverchair single and video!!!
Get your first taste of Silverchair's long awaited new album Young Modern. From Midday (Australian Eastern Standard Time) this coming Friday February 2 "Straight Lines" premieres right here on the band's official Myspace page!
This awesome rock track also hits Australian radio on the same day. It's release marks the first new Silverchair song to hit the airwaves in almost five years.
"Straight Lines" was produced by Daniel Johns along with Nick Launay (Midnight Oil, Talking Heads, INXS, The Living End) who also worked on previous Silverchair albums Freak Show and Neon Ballroom. It was mixed by David Bottrill (Tool,King Crmison, Peter Gabriel) who also did the band's last album - their 2002 classic, Diorama.
The awesome video for the song will also premiere at Midday this Friday. It features an awesome band performance that was filmed at Olympic Park train station in Sydney, Australia. Directed by Paul Goldman and Alice Bell - the makers of Suburban Mayhem.

Jesu - 'Conqueror' and more news...
The new Jesu album, recently titled 'Conqueror', is currently at the end of the mixing stage and is about to be mastered. There are 8 songs on 'Conqueror', with a running time of just over 60 minutes. Planned for a February 2007 release on Hydra Head, a U.S tour will coincide with the release, shortly followed by tours of Japan and Europe. More details as they come through...
Other Jesu releases are also on the horizon : Aurora Borealis will be releasing a limited edition 12" vinyl only EP featuring 2 new experimental Jesu compositions entitled 'Sun Down' b/w 'Sun Rise', each song is approx. 18 minutes in length. Both songs feature Justin and Diarmuid only. This is mixed, mastered and with the label. Release date TBA.
Currently being mixed is a limited edition split 12" vinyl EP with Eluvium, this release is a joint venture between Hydra Head and Temporary Residence, with 2000 copies being issued by each label. This features 3 new Jesu compositions, recorded by Justin only. Release date TBA.

Trina confirmed that the first single will be "Single Again". After numerous delays the album was scheduled for a February 12, 2008 (see 2008 in music) release in the United States but it has been pushed back yet again and is currently scheduled to be released April 1, 2008. Gwen Stefani is confirmed to be on the album along with Trick Daddy, Plies, Rick Ross, Pitbull, Missy Elliott, Nisha, and more. Trina has just recording a new song could "Clear It Out", that may be on the album. Trina is shooting the video for "Single Again" in December. Trina has been working with J. Holiday. Jacki-O, Remy Ma and newcomer Shonie are slated to appear as well. According to sources at New York recording studios & Slip & Slide Records, in December Trina spent time in New York City has recording with Lil' Kim, Eve & Missy Elliott, possibly all for the same song. Trina confirmed that there are so far 3 singles Single Again, I Got A Thang For U, and Wish I Never Met U.

BARCELONA, Spain A mature, modest and (nearly) scandal-free George Michael took the stage in his first solo concert in 15 years, singing his greatest hits to 18,000 fans packed into Barcelonas Palau Sant Jordi arena.
The British pop icon kicked off his "25 Live" European tour, which will touch down in 28 cities before December 15, with a concert Saturday night that may well have been subtitled "the best of George Michael." With no new album to promote, the concert indulged an audience of mostly long-time fans with favorites like "Faith," "Father Figure" and "Too Funky," while also including newer hits.
The only envelope-pushing moment of the show came at the end of the first set, when Michael sang his 2002 controversial anti-Bush song "Shoot the Dog." During the song, an enormous balloon depicting a cartoon-ish George W. Bush rose out of center stage, drawing whoops and yells from the crowd. But the real surprise came when Michael leaned down to unzip the balloon's trousers, and out popped a British bulldog draped with the UK flag. The dog was stuck to the balloon's inflated crotch, wagging its tail.
In February 2005 Michael announced the end of his pop career to the international media, and the irony that less than two years later he's here back on the stage, singing all his pop standards once again, was not lost on him. The fans, however, aren't holding any grudges for what Michael has dubbed his "being such a tease." They clapped, cheered, swayed and sang their way through two-and-a-half-hours of ballads, covers and dance tunes.
The early part of the show suffered from a few low moments when it seemed as though Michaels slow clapping and side-to-side sway-and-shuffle style of dancing werent going to be enough to keep the crowd engaged throughout the night, but after a few songs the singer seemed to warm up to his audience, dominating the stage and obviously happy to be performing again.
"Its coming back, its coming right back," he called out to the crowd just before launching into the unexpected second sing-through of "Too Funky", a technical glitch Michael handled with ease. "Well just go along with this," he said as both he and the audience began to sing the familiar lyrics for the second time in a night.
Michael skyrocketed to fame in the 1980s as the creative half of the duo Wham! before staking out on a Grammy-winning solo career. His next album, due out in November, is called simply "25" and, like the tour it is named after, is a celebration of the highlights of Michaels quarter century in pop.

Relacja może troszkę spóźniona ale dopiero znalazłam chwilę by opisać niebywałe wydarzenia jakich zaznałam w sobotę dnia 27 miesiąca maja. W piątek wieczorem podjęłam decyzję o wyjeździe do Warszawy, gdzie w Jadalni Filozoficznej zagrać mieli Hariasen, Blue Raincoat i genialne The Appleseed Cast. Jechałam bez biletu dla mnie i dla koleżanki którą chciałam zaciągnąć dla towarzystwa. Dobrzy ludzie jednak się znaleźli i udało się wejść za free, choć pana z Radia BIS to będę musiała przeprosić
Najpierw zagrało Hariasen, krótko ale z wyrazem. No ale cóż Warszawa przesiedziała tę część imprezy za to Kraków szalał pod sceną, której w sumie nie było Później zagrało Blue Raincoat, klimatem zbliżone bardziej do emo reprezentowanego przez Appleseed Cast niż Harasenów. No i wreszcie zagrało AC. Nagłośnienie w kanajpie denne, mało miejsca, dziwnie ustawione głośniki a oni dali taki czad, że zaszokowali. Do tego byli baaardzo mili i mimo że na koncertach w Niemczech czy Francji tłumy na nich walą a u nas z 80 osób było to i tak byli zadowoleni i mili dla wszystkich. Set lista wyglądała następująco (cytuję kolegę, bo on był na tyle świadomy by to zapamiętać):

Ciekawe jak bedzie po rozdaniu.
Jak na film Cohenow to to jest tylko jedna nominacja. Lynch tez byl

Whitney Houston Rehearses For Comeback At Clive Davis Grammy Party
Jennifer Hudson, Leona Lewis also set to perform at music mogul's legendary industry gala.

BEVERLY HILLS, California - Every year on Grammy Awards weekend, Clive Davis puts his stamp on the artist he feels will be the next blue-chip performer under his wing. The nod has become almost as important as winning a Grammy itself. This year, however, Davis' biggest splash will be an act he discovered decades ago: Whitney Houston.
"She's rehearsing around 9 p.m. tonight," Davis said on Thursday afternoon, during practices for his legendary extravaganza at the Beverly Hilton. The music mogul - who has been Houston's godfather figure as much as he has been one of the people guiding her career - hinted that the Grammy-winning singer would have product in the marketplace sooner than we expect.
"You wait for the great songs to be written," Davis said about the long-awaited comeback album from one of his most prized prodigies. "The great hits Whitney has given to the public for so many years - you keep encouraging and setting the bar. R. Kelly and Whitney just went into the studio with a great song called 'I Look to You.'
"The same way her debut album took a while to put together, you just don't do it by going into a computer. You wait for the material to justify a new album," he added. "Pretty much, it's come in."
Davis said that Houston is going into the lab with hitmaker David Foster next week to record a ballad called "I Didn't Know My Own Strength."
Another very strong woman was on hand at the Beverly Hilton on Thursday. Jennifer Hudson was going over "Spotlight" with little body movement but still showing that her hiatus in the wake of her family tragedy hasn't diminished her pipes whatsoever.
"Oh, baby, I don't like it," she sang, getting more soulful toward the end of the song. "Living under your spotlight!"
"There's no mistaking that this is Miss Jennifer Hudson," Davis beamed. "Her voice just soared."
Clive and Hudson hugged after her rehearsal.
In 2008, when Hudson sang "And I Am Telling You" from "Dreamgirls" at the Davis party, labelmate Leona Lewis ushered in "Bleeding Love."
"There was something about 'Bleeding Love' and her digging deep and the edginess," Davis said, explaining why he picked the song as Lewis' first single a year ago. "There was no disagreement."
Lewis, who is working with Justin Timberlake on her new album, had fond memories of performing at last year's event. "To have Clive introducing me and debut here, that's having someone so amazing and prestigious in music ... it was great," Lewis said. "I think when Clive speaks, people listen. I'm glad I got the opportunity to perform. I'm performing this year. Clive's being celebrated. I can't wait. It's gonna be a great evening."
Davis' Pre-Grammy Gala takes place Saturday night in Los Angeles.

After the press conference, a few journalists were very lucky to make an interview with more details to one of the members of The Rasmus. Thanks to the people from Evenpro, El Nuevo País had the honor to make an interview face to face to Aki Hakala drummer of the band who with a lot of excitement and honesty tell us about the rock movement in his country and about the future of the band.
ENP: it's very well known the explotion of some finnish bands that get more famous, everyday there're more finnish bands that everyone is talking about. Do you think Finland is gonna become the new rock country?
Aki: (Aki looks with a lot of enthusiams and shyness at the same time) we're very happy to see so many finnish bands all around the world, its a recent explotion, there're bands that kinda opened the road to the rest of the bands you know bands like Childrem of Bodom and Nightwish, I think they were the first in reach the fame and open the road to the rest of the bands. That's something good for all of us and we're happy that this is happening.
ENP: When I had the chance to interview Ville the singer from Sentenced, band who recently broke up, he named several bands that he considers the future of the finnish rock and amount a few he named you. How does it feel to know that someone so important and with so much experience has said those words about you?
Aki: Yes, in fact, Sentenced broke up 2 months ago. Well I'm glad and surprised at the same time that he has mentioned us, I think that in Finland there're lots of bands that have a great future to come.
ENP: About your albums, "Dead Letters" was a hufe success here in Venezuela, now your new production "Hide From the Sun" also counts with a good reception. But there's a variation between both albums, Dead Letters it's more melodic and your new album it's more heavy, more complex, it has mayor presence of keyboards and atmospheres. From where does that come, that change in the music?
Aki: I dont think we have change much, both albums are melodics and dark, the lyrics also are a little dark from what people is used to hear with The Rasmus. But on the other hand, with the new record we wanted to have a mayor presence of acoustic guitar, including more riffs. Also there're balads like "Sail Away" which its a beautiful song, it has acoustic guitar, cellos and strings arrangements. I think for us is natural to grow up and develop. In Hide from the sun, there're many influences from the 80's, when I was younger and I was learning to play drumms, I used to hear bands like Guns 'N Roses, Motley Crue and then to songs like "No Fear" which rhythm its from the 80's, I like a lot how I play that song with the drumms (he smiles and gets all excited while he's telling that)
ENP: You must be feeling quite happy then.
Aki: Yes, yes, of course, GNR were my idols, they're in some part the reason why I started playing drumms. Also I was under the influence of Dave Grol from Nirvana and Tommy Lee from Motley Crue.
ENP: What can you tell us about future plans?
Aki: For now we're here, in 2 more weeks we're going to India to play a couple of shows and then we're gonna have some small xmas vacations. Next year, in February we're gonna have a small tour with HIM around Europe, I think 10 or 11 gigs, one day we open for then and the next they do it for us.
ENP: Ville from HIM is a good friend of the band, isnt he?
Aki: Yes, we're friends, the thing is that in Helsinki we all know each other and we go to the same bar. Also we're going to play in Africa in some festivals, then we want to make a complete tour around South America. And also some festivals in Europe.

RADIOHEAD'S Thom Yorke began laying out the clues months ago, leaving word on various band websites and fan bulletin boards about a fresh batch of songs being written and new music being recorded. Everyone assumed he was talking about the highly anticipated follow-up to the groundbreaking modern-rock quintet's 2003 album "Hail to the Thief." But the Radiohead fan universe turned upside down last weekend when the singer announced on the band's merchandising website that he'll be putting out his debut solo album, "The Eraser," in July.
"It really did take everybody by surprise," says Kris Chen, senior vice president of artists & repertoire for XL Recordings, which is putting out "The Eraser."

Radiohead's management brokered a deal in late January/early February with the indie label, home to acts including Devendra Banhart, the White Stripes and Dizzee Rascal. "Everybody involved was able to keep it under wraps for a while," says Chen.
Yorke, in his typically punctuation- and grammar-liberated style, noted in the Web posting that the Nigel Godrich-produced album "was fun and quick to do. inevitably, it is more beats and electronics. no its not a radiohead record. as you know the band are now touring and writing stuff and getting to a good space so i want no crap about me being a traitor or whatever splitting up blah blah … "
Since the announcement, some fans have grown dismayed at the idea of pop's most inscrutable poet of ennui releasing what some fear might be an indulgent electronica album. Chen, however, is at pains to banish the notion.
"Contrary to what some people are posting on bulletin boards, it's not 'Thom's techno record,' " he says. "It is well-composed, beautifully thought-out and song-based. Thom's voice and lyrics are unmistakable. That said, it's not as if you're going to hear the more guitar-based angle of, say, 'The Bends.' "
One of Yorke's new songs, "Black Swan," will play over the closing credits in Richard Linklater's animated sci-fi film, "A Scanner Darkly," which hits theaters in July.
Until then, Yorke completists can stay current via the album's interactive — and spookily atmospheric — website, theeraser.net.
"That's crucial in keeping up the dialogue with Thom's fans — there's an invitation to keep coming back," Chen says. "Since the site launched last week, it's gone through changes every day. We're trying to get music across to people outside the tried-and-true norm."
As for Radiohead, the band kicked off its first tour since 2004 in Copenhagen earlier this month and debuted eight new songs from the forthcoming album, which Yorke described to Britain's NME magazine as more "terrifying" than "OK Computer." A release date has not been announced.

Słuchając ostanio zarówno ich setów i produkcji odnosiłem wrażenie że chłopaki ślepo starają się gonić trendy jakie panują w muzyce. Spowodowało to moim zdaniem znaczny spadek oryginalności ich muzyki. Szkoda, bo prawie od samego początku istnienia duo śledziłem ich poczynania. Moge się nawet pokusić o stwierdzenie że stworzyli własną pułeczkę w muzyce elektronicznej. Ogólnie szkoda i zastanawia mnie fakt czy chłopaki rozkręcą własne solowe kariery.

some of you may have noticed that i have not checked into myspace at all this year. it has been quite a few troubling months for me and frankly i just didnt know what to say here, but now i can talk freely and participate in the community and so please accept this blog as my grand hello.
yes, the rumor is true. Gabriel & Dresden and parted ways for the time being. Over the past year, Josh and i have been moving apart as artists and we decided rather than milk it and be moderately happy together that we separate and examine ourselves as individual artists for a while. Our final date was the beatport pool party in miami on march 30th. For those who were there, i want to thank each and every one of you for showing Josh and I the love and support that you did. A lot of the set was songs that we have individually been working on interspersed with a few fan favorites. I will remember that hour and 15 minutes forever because i certainly felt the love with all the hands in the air and the well-wishes.
After WMC i went into the hospital to have shoulder surgery. I had a torn rotator cuff and after years of constant dislocations to my shoulder, i wanted to get that out of the way so that i can be 100% when i hit the road in mid-may as a solo artist.
I have also been very busy in the studio with my own music. I made a numer with my good friend chris cox back in february called "Hole Wide" - it samples a relatively obscure song from the 80s band tears for fears "advice for the young at heart" and its the kind of feel-good house i have always wanted to make but never did. Some of you may have caught it on pete tongs essential selection show yesterday. if you didnt check out the bbc.co.uk/radio1 site and have a listen to the show. he played it right before the essential new numer.
and for the 1000s of people who have reuested to be my friend, please be patient, i will add all of you.

Certainly one of the more prolific artists in the electronic genre, In Strict Confidence distinguish themselves due to the fact that each of their albums feature a band who are giving their all. The advancement in sound and concept on "Holy" is nothing short of a revelation. In this ever-contracting world of MP3-based "projects" it?s inspiring to see a band so professional and relevant. Dennis Ostermann along with his fellow members Jorg Schelte and Steve Vesper (aka Dragon) really has gone beyond the call of duty with this one.
"Eye of Heaven" opens the gates with thunderous aplomb. It is a mid-tempo track which perfectly shows the progress which ISC has made since their previous album "Mistrust the Angels". Following this is the godlike track "Seven Lives" and goddamnit is it good. Layer upon layer of perfectly chosen sounds coupled to vocals that are partially processed and partially just downright vehement. I love this song for the subtly which it employs; the chorus is bloody infectious. Antje Shultz (ex-Chandeen) appears on two tracks, one of which "Emergency" jumps right out of the speakers and into the very depths of my mind. Two weeks have passed since I got this album and this track still will not leave my head. I have been smitten with Antje?s voice since first hearing it with Chandeen in 1993. I still am. By god the choice to use her as a vocalist was a very saavy move indeed. Hopefully, there will be a single for this one.
The tempo of this record is generally in the mid to high range but there are some astoundingly powerful slower works on "Holy". Quite engaging is the track "Alpha-Centauri" which closes everything out and whose second half "Alpha-Omega" is included in the limited edition version of "Holy" on a stand-alone bonus disc. These two pieces are ambient film-score work at its finest. ISC has many sides, all of which are done expertly and inventively.
With this new effort we find ISC utterly on point and remorselessly slaying the competition. Upon finishing your perusal of this review, I'd suggest purchasing this album immediately it is that good. Go. Now.

EXODUS - "Tempo of the Damned" (Nuclear Blast) (8 /10)
By the time EXODUS split up in the early '90s, they had all but lost their steam, their latter-day recorded output serving as little more than a painful reminder of the fact that the band would never recapture the magic that had made their first couple of efforts such classics in the thrash metal genre. The group's last studio album, 1992's "Force of Habit", was a decent enough effort that died a quick death at the hands of Capitol Records, who had effectively given up on the band after their failure to capitalize on their early sales potential.
Although it would be another five years before EXODUS would reunite with original singer Paul Baloff to record the now-classic live album "Another Lesson In Violence" (one of the greatest "live" albums ever made, in this writer's humble opinion), the band's legend never faded away, with many extreme metal acts citing the group's precision-like delivery and riff-laden approach as a major influence (just ask the likes of KREATOR, AT THE GATES or any of the current purveyors of the ever-popular Swedish "Gothenburg" sound).
Seven years later, EXODUS — still mourning the loss of Baloff, who passed away in February 2002 after suffering a massive stroke — have been rejoined by Baloff's replacement, Steve "Zetro" Souza, and have delivered an inspired and impressive comeback album that stays true to the band's pioneering sound while sounding fresh enough to avoid coming across like a mere rehash.
Aided in no small part by the crystal-clear, flawless production of British metal producer extraordinaire Andy Sneap, "Tempo of the Damned" opens with several tracks that can only be described as "typical EXODUS". "Scar Spangled Banner" is all dizzying riffs and pounding drums, with Zetro's distinctive delivery and "gang" backing vocals sounding like they could have come straight off one of the band's late '80s releases. "War Is My Shepherd" follows in the same aggressive, up-tempo fashion, while "Blacklist" is a classic EXODUS mid-tempo cruncher that possesses an infectious groove and an equally hooky chorus. "Shroud of Urine", like many of the other cuts on the album, showcases Zetro's much-improved vocal range, with a higher-pitched, scratchier-sounding edge adding to the song's intensity and making it one of the album's highlights.
The high standard is maintained for the next couple of cuts, with "Forward March" featuring more classic riffing from the Gary Holt/Rick Hunolt guitar team and vocals that range from "typical Zetro" to something that can only be described as borderline "rapping" (and no, we're not talking LIMP BIZKIT-style ebonics here). "Culling the Herd", while not a personal favorite, represents a slight change of pace, with Souza sounding, for once, like he's not gargling glass and proving that he can carry a melody when necessary.
Much has been made of EXODUS' decision to go back to the vaults for material to include on this CD, and for a good reason: "Sealed With A Fist" and "Throwing Down" are both reworked versions of songs originally written for and demoed by WARDANCE, the ill-fated mid-'90s act formed by Holt and drummer Tom Hunting, and unsurprisingly, neither fully justifies its presence on here (especially the latter, which at times sounds like second-rate PANTERA). "Impaler", on the other hand, is an early '80s EXODUS classic that was never before properly captured in a recording studio, and one that comes across as far too NWOBHM-inspired to fit comfortably alongside the much more aggressive nature of the rest of the material.
These minor grievances aside, "Tempo of the Damned" is as good an album as one could have hoped for from EXODUS after such a lengthy absence from the recording studio. Arguably the group's finest effort since 1989's "Fabulous Disaster", this is the work of a band who still hold a respectable spot in the metal scene and who still have a lot of good days left ahead of them.
